Spinning wooden ball on rope, U.S. Patent Model No. 113,654. invented by J.H. Harbison, from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Model number 113, 654; Patented April 11, 1871. The purpose of this toy was to hold the string handles in each hand, with the ball at one end. Turn the rope so it is vertical with the ball at the top end. The ball will spin down the rope. The wooden ball is painted, in thirds, in red, white, and blue. As long as you do not hold the rope too tight, it works, Inventor’s name is painted on the ball.
