Description:
Mechanical PEEK-A-BOO cat automaton. When the mechanism is wound, a white fur covered cat with yellow-green glass paperweight eyes rises up, balancing the lid of the pot on his head just far enough to peek out from under the lid then pauses for a moment, after which he will rise up further sufficiently enough to allow a for a good look and then stick out his tongue just before disappearing back down into the pot with the lid closing on top of him. The cylinder body of the pot is made of tin and painted black with gold stripes around the top and base. The lid and the bottom of the pot are made of turned wood (possibly walnut). The clockwork is made almost entirely of brass; it works very well as does the stop/start slide on the back of the pot. The toy measures just over 8? tall to the top of the knob on the lid when the cat is down and about 9 ½? when he is up. The pot is about 5 ¼? in diameter at the base.
