Description:
Pull-toy. Clown riding-teacher with hand-inked ?H 591? underneath the platform, mix of materials: composition, wood, wire & rods, metal, bisque, textiles, papier-mâché, and printed papers. When the toy is pulled along the Clown raises & lowers his stick and rings his tiny brass bell, the horse rocks back-&-forth, and the child bounces up & down. CLOWN = 9 ½? tall; composition head, wood torso, painted wood hands & feet, wire limbs inside velvet & sateen costume. The girl is 5 ¾? tall; china head, same body & limbs as clown inside printed cotton dress with lace trim. The horse is 8 ¼? long and 5? high ears-to-feet; flannelette-covered papier-mâché, amber glass eyes, real tail, oilcloth tack & flannel saddle. The horse is held aloft by two gold-painted pillars, 4? high, which are loosely attached so the horse will have movement back-&-forth. Platform paper covering has some wear on top
