Automatic dancer with classic black clockwork toy from the fourth quarter of the 19th Century; a large jointed figure does a "jig" in front of a Southern plantation scene which has been lithographed onto paper and applied to a wood background. Many versions of this toy exists with many different background scenes. Clockwork motor is encased in a painted tin box which still retains the original stenciling "Brower's Automatic Dancer Patented Sept. 23, 1873". Toy appears to be in completely all original, untouched condition however there is some distress to the paper litho background and frailty to the figure's clothing.
