In 1871 Eugene Beggs began with the production of trains of the track 1. Eugene Beggs was the first American company producing trains as toya as mass products.
The first locomotive manufactured by Eugene Beegs was the "American Standard", with a cabbage bunker instead of a tender. Further locomotives were produced in the same way. But he later manufactured also locomotives with 4, 6 and 8 wheeld tenders.
Beggs engines were very simply with a pot boiler with alcohol burners and oscillating cylinders, without reverse cluster, whistle, or safety valve. A sight glass was installed in the backhead. The engines ran on low pressure (<40 psi) and the springs that were used to hold the cylinders against the yokes doubled as safety valves. Speed is controlled by wick setting and train length.
