Company history and description of the company J. Chein & Co, New York City and Harrison in New Jersey, USA

In 1903 the company J. Chein & Co, New York City and Harrison, New Jersey, USA founded by Julius Chein started with the production of toys.
In 1907 the tin toys were lithographed.
In 1926 Julius Chein died and his wife handed over the company to her brother Samuel Hoffman, who had earlier worked at Chein, but had then produced toys with his own company "Mohawk Toys".
In the 1930s were the comic and circus tin toys very popular.
1940-1945 were produces ammunition instead of toys.
Beginning in 1945 as the Japanese brought very inexpensive toys to the market they produced very large toys such as the carousels.
1949 the first roller coaster came on the market.
In 1970 the company became known worldwide as Chein Industries Inc.
1979 the production of toys stoped, inter alia because Hoffmann dont't wanted to switch the production to plastic toys.
