In 1857 Etienne Denamur started making dolls.
He produced bisque head dolls with open or closed mouths on composition jointed bodies.
In 1890 he won a gold medal award at the London exhibition.
In 1898 he stopped production.
The dolls are marked with the initials of E.D. mostly with the size number in the middle like "E 9 D". He is the only maker who also uses the word Deposé in his markings.
There are other doll makers who use the initials E.D. like Dumont, Jumeau, Jules Nicholas Steiner and possibly Roullet et Decamps.
