In 1935 the company of Horace Kenneth Victor Allen was founded and is managed today by his son Kenneth Rinaldo Allen and his son Maximilian Anthony Allen. Initially one-armed bandits were repaired. During the Second World War, among others they made parts for rifles. After the war began the production of sewing machines.
1946 the first Essex Miniature sewing machine was produced. It was never sold as a children sewing machine, but was very popular under the grils.
1956 the Essex Sewing Machine MK II was produced. But after initial sales success the production of sewing machines was set as demand waned and the offers from other countries increased.
