Ideal Novelty and Toy Company was founded in Brooklyn in 1903 by Rose and Morris Michtom.
1938 after Michtom died the name of the company changed to Ideal Toy Company and his nephew Abraham Katz became managing director
In 1941, Mr. Weintraub, Mr. Katz's son-in-law, joined the company and later became chairman of the board
In 1951 they merged with the Americn Character Doll Company and the Alexander Doll Company and founded the United States-Israeli Toy and Plastic Corporation, and Abraham Katz became president.
In 1968 the American Character Doll Company went into bankruptcy and Ideal acquired the patents, brand and some products
Ideal went public in 1971.
Ideal was sold to Viewmaster Internional in 1987.
It was bought by Tyco Toys of Mt in 1989.
In 1997, Tyco Toys of Mt merged with Mattel and Ideal's assets were sold to Hasbro, which launched Trap and KerPlunk under the MB Games brand, which were originally from Ideal.
