Company history and description of the company Kaemmer & Reinhardt company in Waltershausen, Thuringia, Germany.

In 1885 Ernst Kämmer and Franz Reinhard foundet the Kämmer & Reinhardt company in Waltershausen, Thuringia, Germany.
Early dolls were made of wax. Most doll heads were manufactdured by Simon & Halbig (therefor the heads bear both marks), some bisque doll heads and bodies were designed by themselves. They also purchased heads from King and Schützmeister & Quendt.
From 1886-1909 they made only dolly faced dolls with bisque head on a composition ball jointed or kid body mostly with open mouth and teeth.
After 1909 they produced many types of dolls with bisque, composition or celluloid heads and even cloth costume dolls with wired bodies.
From 1890-1984 they supplied some bisque heads to make Emiele Berliner's gramophone talking dolls.
In 1902 they purchased the Heinrich Handwerck doll company.
About 1920 they acquired the Simon & Halbig company as well.
