1895, the company was founded in Ney York by David W. Knapp. They produced locomotives and cars of gague 2. The locomotives had cast-iron bodies.
1904 the first two electrical cables were produced with direct current.
1913 the production of these trains ended.
1931-1946 trains were produced at gauge H0 with alternating current.
In 1937 the company moved from New York to Indianapolis.
In addition, electric motors, electric cars, board games, dynamos, fans and other electrical artciles were produced.
Carlisle & Finch sold the products of Knapp.
Approx. 1948 production was stopped
As a dealer, Knapp also sold has drive models from THE A.C. GILBERT CO. New Haven, Conn. - also called GILBERT MINIATURE MACHINERY -.
