Company history and description of the company Maerklin in Germany

1859 the plumber Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Maerklin founded the company in Germany and produced doll kitchens
1866 Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin died and his wife Caroline Hettich who traveled as a representative all over southern Germany and Switzerland could receive the company for their sons
1888 Eugen and Karl Märklin took over the company as Gebr. Märklin. Besides doll kitchens they prouded carts, boats, carousels, roundabouts and bottom runners.
1891 they presented at the Leipzig Easter Fair the first clockwork railway from Maerklin. Maerklin unified gradually the gauges.
1909 they produced about 90 different steam engines models, dollhouses and kitchen accessories, cars, ships , airplanes, carousel, roundabout and metal construction kits.
1926 the 20 -volt system has been introduced.
1929 the colors green, red , blue, black and brass were the typical colors of the Märklin metal construction sets .
1935 after a checkered history the table railway set in the track width by 00 as the main product for Maerklin .
1950 the gauge was changed to the still common HO gaug .
1967 takes place the beginning of the new gauge 1
1972 the mini-club was added to the 1:220 scale .
1984 is the start of the digital model railways
In 1197 the comapnay Trix was taken over .
on 11.05.2006 the company was sold to the British financial Grupp Kingsbridge Capital .
