In 184, the firm was founded by John and Elisha Stevens. Elisha Stevens won later George Brown to found together the company Stevens & Brown. The company was a supplier for Gong Bell and Watrous. They produced cast iron toys such as stoves, guns and boxes.
1869 began the production of cast iron mechanical banks with the "Hall's Excelsior". Stevens has probably produced 1/3 of all cast iron mechanical banks worldwide.
