Company history and description of the company Mettoy Co. Ltd., England

In 1934 the company was established by Phillip Ulmann (dispossessed owner of Tipp & Co), after which he had to flee from Germany. They produced tin toy cars and novelties.
1945 began the production of plastic toys.
From 1956 they produced diecast models in 1:43 scale under the brand name "Corgi". Corgi was mainly known through the movie cars like the Aston Martin DB5 from James Bond.
Final of the 1970's Mettoy begins with the production of models in scale 1:36.
1993 the company Mettoy was dissolved. Corgi changes hands and the production program in TV and film model, emergency vehicles, trucks, cars, military and toy models. The products are mainly produced in China.
