When the cobbler, Wilhelm Voigt, dressed as a captain , carried off the municipal treasury of the Berlin suburb of Kopernick under military supervision in 1906, Berlin Street vendors were selling the sham captain as a toy within a few months, metal body, full cloth uniform with hat, clockwork walking action, depicts a noted cobbler who stole the town's money while dressed as a captain, his notoriety was immortalized by Lehmann with this toy
Within a few months after the scam this toy was created by modifying the more common ?Dancing Sailor? toy.
