Zig Zag #640 tin lithographe wind-up toy. When wound, the toy travels in an erratic fashion, always changing directions. In an attempt to steer the vehicle, there are two seated figures, one black man and one white man that alternately move the steering wheel and the lever while bouncing up & down in their seats. This toy has a special patent for the drive mechanism which claims that the toy will never repeat the same course twice. This toy is original and features all tin construction with two hand painted figures. One side of the toy reads: DR Patent Zick-Zack, the early Lehmann Spindle Press Mark and Lehmann 640. The other side of the toy reads: Engl Patent Zig Zag, the early Lehmann Spindle Press Mark and Lehmann 640. The middle of the toy has the Lehmann Mark and reads: Made in Germany Patd USA 12 Mai 1903 22 Jan 1907 and DR Patente, Engl Patent, Bte Sgdg.
