Description:

Am Pol #681 with replaced wrong umbrella, wind up toy, it was created when the American explorer, Robert E. Peary reached the North Pole on April 6, 1909 and his exploit dominated the headlines. The "New Century Cycle" was given a new appearance, the driver was wrapped in a fur coat as was the black boy on the rear seat. The umbrella was decorated with the topical map (centered on the North Pole). The toy called "Am Pol" reported man's victory over the nothern ice cap.
The correct original umbrella is a map of the northern hemisphere with the North Pole at the top and “Lehmann” marked on the umbrella. Many times these toys appear at auction with replaced, incorrect umbrellas made by cutting the top off of small metal globe toy
