Description:

BEROLINA #761, traffic tower bank, deposit coin and policeman waves flag. Vehicular traffic in 1920s in Europe had gotten so chaotic that traffic towers were being constructed at major intersections manned with policeman with flags to direct traffic. This toy made in Germany is a replica of one built in Berlin. This toy bank was made for the German market. Three of the five sides has litho pictures of common Berlin monuments. The other two sides read "Spare in der Zeit" and "So hast Du in der Not". The names of the merging streets appear at the base as Leipziger Str., Potsdamer Str., Hermann Goring Str., Bellvue Str. and Potsd. Bahnhof. All the lettering on the toy is in German, except for “Made in Germany”. The child deposits the coin at the top and that makes the policeman raise the silk German flag. This toy has the coin trap underneath and still retains the key to retrieve the coins.
